Professor Frederic Chaume introduces the inaugural lecturer given by Professor Jorge Díaz Cintas

On June, 6, 2017, Professor Jorge Díaz Cintas, from the Center for Translation Studies, CenTraS, at University College London, will be giving an open inaugural lecture entitled THE RISE OF SUBTITLING, which will summarize how the new discipline of Audiovisual Translation has evolved in these last three decades, especially in the case of subtitling.

Recently-appointed professors at UCL have the opportunity to give an inaugural lecture. Inaugural lectures are an opportunity for newly-appointed professors to exhibit to the wider UCL community, and the public outside UCL, a flavour of their intellectual activity and research. For newly-promoted professors they are an opportunity for colleagues to recognise and celebrate the achievements that have led to their promotion.

Professor Frederic Chaume will have the pleasure to introduce the inaugural lecturer, and give a brief summary of the lecturer’s career and research contribution.
